Dr. Andrew Carlton
Dr. Andrew Carlton graduated from the University of Arizona with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture. He then went on to Michigan State University where he completed his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine in 1986. He worked as an emergency hospital veterinarian for over five years prior to and after opening Sahuaro Vista. Dr. Carlton opened Sahuaro Vista Veterinary Clinic in 1989. Sahuaro Vista soon became an American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) certified hospital and has achieved AAHA’s highest certification. He has been a veterinarian for the Arizona Department of Racing for about 20 years. Dr. Carlton serves on the Greyhound Task Force committee headed by the State of Arizona. He has served on advisory committee’s for Pima Animal Control and the Amphitheater School District. Dr. Carlton was a member of the Pima County Board of Health, Southern Arizona Medical Association board, and has been a consultant for the Humane Society of Southern Arizona. In addition, he has been active in numerous civic and community activities. His son Nate is a student at Michigan State University's Veterinary School and is a 2nd Lt. who will practice veterinary medicine for the United States Army after he graduates. Dr. Carlton's daughter, Callista, is a pharmacist living in Alaska. Dr. Carlton's four legged children include: a French Bulldog name Eclair, a Jack Russell Terrier name Midgie, a mix breed named Geez Louise, and a yellow tabby named Barch.

Dr. Rachel Temkin
Dr. Rachel Temkin is a graduate from Ohio State University located in
Columbus, Ohio and she has been practicing since 2004. Her experience
includes several years of emergency relief work at local veterinary
emergency hospitals here in Tucson. Dr. Temkin graduated Magna cum laude with a BA in Anthropology and
minors in Biology as well as Spanish. While attending Ohio State's
College of Veterinary Medicine she volunteered with the Remote Area
Medical Service immunizing, neutering, and spaying cats and dogs under
the supervision of her veterinary mentor. She also volunteered with
Amigos de las Americas which promotes health and community sanitation
programs in Oaxaca, Mexico as well as constructed gardens and
nutritional programs in Paraguay. Dr. Temkin states that what she loves best is spending her free time
with her husband and son. They enjoy spending time in the pool during
the hot summers and traveling to exotic places.
